This is an example of a “recovery scam”. They’re preying on people who have fallen victim to finance-related scams. Do not contact these people; they will not recover anything you’ve lost. This is a scam. This “event” is NOT hosted by the real “Ethereum Foundation” company. Do not give these scammers your crypto — they will not “double your crypto”, nor will you receive the big “giveaway prize”. If you give them any of your crypto, it will be gone forever. ——————————————————- Scammers are hijacking YouTube channels and using them to post videos and livestreams promoting their websites. The videos are usually deepfaked videos of popular figures (i.e., Elon Musk) giving testimonials about the websites, and the livestreams are old interviews with various well-known CEOs and the websites’ URLs pasted somewhere on the screen, in the livestreams’ descriptions, or in the live chat boxes. YouTube acts pretty quickly to remove this content if it’s flagged. If you come across these videos and/or livestreams, you can flag them for “Spam/Misleading” content or “Harmful/Dangerous Acts” (this policy prohibits the promotion of grey-area and illegal activities, including cryptocurrency).

This is a “recovery scam”. Recovery scammers will claim to be - or will claim to know - “experts” who can help those who were scammed trace and recover their lost assets. Once someone contacts a recovery scammer, the scammer may try to convince the client that they’re “legit” or “reliable” - this may include fake/photoshopped evidence of them successfully helping other clients. Soon after, the scammer will begin to give excuses as to why they need the client to send them money - the most common excuse/reason is that they need money to pay for special tools/equipment that can be used to start tracing the assets. If the client decides to send money, the scammer will either continue giving excuses to try to get more money, or they’ll leave with the money and ghost the client/victim. If you’re a scam victim, do not trust anyone who tells you that they or someone they know can “recover [your] assets” - they’re lying and will try to scam you. If you were scammed very recently, you can contact your bank/card provider to explain the situation and then see what they can do. You can also contact your local or federal anti-fraud/scam commission to notify them of the incident, as well. There’s no guarantee that anything can be done, but you have a higher chance of success by resolving the issue through your bank/card provider/law enforcement than by letting a random stranger “recover your assets” through WhatsApp.

The whole email is just an image with a link embedded in it. Click on the link, and you’ll be immediately taken to this website: https://yentedorms.com/08a2c84d16f23bd99e9f43fd4095f7d9 <— this is where you’ll do the survey. Once you finish the survey and win the power drill, then click “Continue”, you’ll be redirected to this website: https://choicetechnologytoday.com/milwaukee/v1/mobile/?affId=DLXSW&SubAff=214999&C1=&C2=ahkakk2ckodg&C3=184153960&click_id=w83bg17j0eldu94k291otd7o <— this is where you’ll start filling in your personal info for shipping. The info you’ll be asked to provide are your name, email address, phone number, and home address. Once you finish this step and click “Continue”, you’ll be directed to a different page on the same website: https://choicetechnologytoday.com/milwaukee/v1/mobile/checkout.php?affId=DLXSW&SubAff=214999&C1=&C2=ahkakk2ckodg&C3=184153960&click_id=w83bg17j0eldu94k291otd7o&prospect_id=3625178 <— this is where you’ll be asked to provide your credit card information. Please do *not* actually do any of this - I only went along with this (I did not provide my real info) so that I’d be able to properly explain how these emails turn into phishing scams. If you receive an email like this, ignore it or delete it - these scammers are trying to trick you into giving your credit card info and other personal info to them so that they can use it to make fraudulent purchases in your name.

This particular scammer also offers “hacking” services to help you spy on your partner(s) and other illegal (but obviously fake) services. Do not trust this person — they will take your money and they will never deliver on their promises. Be aware that scammers will paste comments and fake testimonials all over the internet in the hope that someone will be desperate enough to contact them — even the most obscure forums and websites have scammers that are preying on vulnerable people. Always be vigilant and skeptical of things that sound “too good to be true”.

Or, if you come across the livestreams, you can flag them for “Spam/Misleading content” or “Harmful/Dangerous acts” - the former policy prohibits the use of deception to lead people to different websites, and the latter policy prohibits the promotion of grey-area and illegal activities, including cryptocurrency.
